The eleventh biannual IEEE workshop on Automatic Speech Recognition and Understanding (ASRU) will be held on December 13-17, 2009. The ASRU workshops have a tradition of bringing together researchers from academia and industry in an intimate and collegial setting to discuss problems of common interest in automatic speech recognition and understanding.


Workshop topics

Papers in all areas of human language technology are encouraged to be submitted, with emphasis placed on:
  • automatic speech recognition and understanding
  • human speech recognition and understanding
  • speech to text systems
  • spoken dialog systems
  • multilingual language processing
  • robustness in ASR
  • spoken document retrieval
  • speech-to-speech translation
  • spontaneous speech processing
  • speech summarization
  • new applications of ASR

Submissions for the technical program

The workshop program will consist of invited lectures, oral and poster presentations, and panel discussions. Prospective authors are invited to submit full-length, 4-6 page papers,including figures and references, to the ASRU 2009 website http://www.asru2009.eu/.

All papers will be handled and reviewed electronically. The website will provide you with further details. Please note that the submission dates for papers are strict deadlines.

Paper presentation

All papers will be presented in a poster format, except those by invited speakers. The poster board is 200cm (78inch) wide and 200cm (78inch) tall (maximum allowable dimensions).

Each poster session presentation will last 90 minutes. The poster must be placed on the board at the beginning of the session.
